Jerry Laboranti anti

I think Jerry was born with a sax in his hand. At 16, when he joined the D.C. & Co. family, he was already killer. His mom said he always wanted to be like Lenny Pickett from the Saturday Night Live Band. After hitting with us regularly for a couple years, he went off to college at The University of the Arts to study with Grover Washinton Jr, and some other top philly cats.

It was so exciting listening and watching him develop over the years when he’d come back and gig with us during college breaks. During that time he did some shows with Keb Moe, Robin Eubanks, Grover Washington Jr., Tim Warfield, Edgardo Cintron,  Mike Dugan and the Blues Mission, , Don't Call Me Francis,  Dave Stahl Big Band, Larr Halle Jazz Orchestra, Mystique, Billy and the Essentials, Danny and the Juniors, The Bluenotes, Clyde Lucas, Blitz Dynette, and also played the New Orleans House of Blues with a Gospel ensemble.
I was smart and lucky enough to record him when he was in high school and you can hear him throughout our “Somethin’s Happenin’” CD. Jerry graduated with a B.A in Jazz Saxophone performance and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from the University of the Arts. Presently, Jerry works for the Wilson School District as the director of middle school  string orchestras. He also is the assistant director for jazz bands at the middle schools and at the high school in the district.
Jerry was also the “Ohhh great web master” for this site, so I’m sure that he will edit the heck out of this. Contact Jerry at   jazkat20@yahoo.com
